upgrade RAM in a Mac Mini

I did this operation two years ago when i still used my Mac Mini as main computer.
It was a bit too slow for my taste (i played World of Warcraft and used photoshop a lot...)
I wanted to upgrade from 512mb RAM to 1gb RAM....

I used this guide (in swedish), but here's a summary:

Tools:

Thin, stable, flat tools (look in the kitchen...)
Fresh RAM memories
Cool head

Step 1.
Turn the mac upside down
Bend in all the joints so that the bottom releases from the top chassi. (then remove it)

Step 2.
Push the two black clammers on each side of the RAM memory to the sides so that you can remove the RAM.
Switch to the new RAM.
Then close the chassi careful!

renovate a k750i cellphone

My cellphone, model k750i Ercisson was inherited from my father so it was well used long before i got it.
After the years of being rubbed in my pocket, droped in walls, exposed for sms-writing-contest etc. it has lost it's brilliance.
The biggest problem is the dust, it has jostled itself between the joints of the chassi. The very sensitive lever has lost almost all it's capacity of navigation (interesting that we never see cellphones with such a lever on the latest phones...)
The dust has also jostled in between the display and the protecting glass meaning you can't see nothing when the sun shines on it (in all the situations you need the cellphone for checking sms, calendar etc...)

Me and my father decided to open it up and clean it, make a big renovation!

Tools:

Torx screxdriver
Small screwdriver (cross)
Cleaning cloth
Bottles with lubrication and compressed medium preassure air
Motivated son and father

We found a short guide on the internet, but if you need more help than this howto you can search for it at google <3

Step 1.
Release the chassi. Open the backside and remove the battery and SIM-card.
Remove the screws and then the front chassi.
Lift off the buttons.

Step 2.
Lift the white plate under the buttons. (You don't need to remove it)
Now you can use some of the compressed air to remove dust etc under this plate.
You can also lift the lever to remove the dust under it. We used some lubricate to make it clean, this made a lot to the renovation!

Step 3.
Clean the display from dust
Use the compressed air to make the chassi clean....

Step 4.
Put the parts together and feel the pleassure of a working, clean cellphone. It's really nice indeed.

change batteries iPod Mini (4th generation)

A few years ago i got an iPod Mini as a christmas gift from my lovely parents.
A few years later the battery died, meaning it didn't last longer than some minutes after unplugging the battery charger. This made the whole idea with "portable music" wasted and all i could use it for was for pluging it into my stereo (with the charger connected....)
I decided to change the battery using a battery-changing-set bought on a technic's store in Stockholm (www.teknikmagasinet.se).

The tools in the set where:

Tools:

New battery
Small screw driver
Glue

Step 1.
Loosen the rubber top of the iPod

Step 2.
Remove the two screws on the top

Step 3.
Remove the rubber bottom of the iPod

Step 4.
Remove the contact between the scroll-wheel and the motherboard

Step 5.
Push out the content - be carefull! Push from the bottom and drag it out when possible.

Beautiful, isn't it?

Step 6.
Locate the battery on the backside....

...lift it carefully!

Change to the other battery by unplugging the previous wire and replace it with the one on the new battery. Put the new battery on the exactly same place.

Mine started as i plugged it in.

Step 7.
Do all the steps backwards and be carefull!! this is the most critical part.
My sister's iPod loosed the ability to scroll after the exactly same operation.
If necessary: use the glue to shut the bottom and top.
